Aperture and Depth of Field
I took my photographs of food coloring and playing cards. I positioned them in a diagonal line to capture the shadows and depth created by the bottles. I set the camera to "A" for Aperture and to "M" for Manual Focus. A shallow depth of field needs a small f stop and a large depth of field needs a large f stop. The first, second, and last pictures are set on f2. The third picture has a large aperture so the f stop was set on about f32. To change the subject in focus I used the manual focus. I believe the best picture is the first picture. The clarity of the first bottle of food dye is very interesting and I LOVE the color difference between the three bottles. The first picture is the most dynamic and attention grabbing. A small depth of field would be used when you want to capture only one main focus/object. A large depth of field would be used if you want a large scene such as a landscape with foreground, middle ground and background.
